ALEXANDER MCQUEEN: THE PRE FALL COLLECTION, 2012

We would just like to take a moment to draw your attention to the velvet jumpsuit that is a deadringer for the one that Olivia Newton John wore in grease, but in velvet (yes we know we’re repeating ourselves) in a rich dark plum colour. For that alone, this collection will, in our personal tally of great collections, be ranked near to the top. The peplum waisted jackets and heavy navy embroidery over maroon is rather fine too.

This ring from Ursa Major—named for a sailboat the designer, Kate Jones, cruised on as a kid—is a lot more literal than a friendship bracelet and a lot less played-out. —erica
